Stone Works
Stone walls and steps have been woven into the fabric of our landscape, standing as silent witness to our history from the most remote and inhospitable locations to the frontier of an empire. These images capture some of the rhythms, patterns and colours of these functional features. They contemplate the imperceptible passing of time as walls, colonised by vegetation and lichen, crumble from apparent permanence into decay.

Open / Closed / Locked
Images of doors and locks, rich with symbolism and which when enlarged to greater than life size become intriguing abstractions.
Cities

Initially linked thematically with the Phantom Cities exhibition, these photographs include a variety of cities from around the world.

The image and character of modern cities are formed over many centuries, by both their inhabitants and visitors. The perception of a city for someone living and breathing in it is often very different to, perhaps, the more glamorous image in the minds of those living hundreds of miles away. I am interested in how buildings can transcend their function and place and often bleak, anonymous architecture to reach an iconic status.
